This first volume is mostly what could be called the "psychological preparation" of Satprem. Mother's confidant had to be prepared, not only to understand the evolutionary meaning of Mother's discoveries, to follow the tenuous thread of man's great future unravelled through so many apparently disconcerting experiences - which certainly required a steady personal determination for more than 19 years! - but also, in a way, he had to share the battle against the many established forces that account for the present human mode of being and bear the onslaught of the New Force. Satprem - "True Love" - as Mother called him, was a reluctant disciple. Formed in the French Cartesian mold, a freedom fighter against the Nazis and in love with his freedom, he was always ready to run away, and always coming back, drawn by a love greater than his love for freedom. Slowly she conquered him, slowly he came to understand the poignant drama of this lone and indomitable woman, struggling in the midst of an all-too-human humanity in her attempt to open man's golden future. Week after week, privately, she confided to him her intimate experiences, the progress of her endeavour, the obstacles, the setbacks, as well as anecdotes of her life, her hopes, her conquests and laughter: she was able to be herself with him. He loved her and she trusted him. It is that simple.
Quand je réponds aux questions, ce n’est pas l’effet d’une volonté: il se produit une sorte d’arrivée de matériaux dont je me sers pour donner une forme à la réponse, mais c’est seulement la forme. La chose elle-même est là mais elle prend une forme, et entre l’une et l’autre j’ai un peu l’impression de la différence qu’il y aurait entre une image et une apparition.
Quelquefois, la Force vient, directe. Et elle ramasse les mots, n’importe quels mots, cela ne fait rien: les mots changent leur nature, ils deviennent expressifs a cause de la puissance qui est entrée en eux. C’est comme cela quand je regarde la chose directement.
Mais quand on me pose une question, toute l’atmosphère mentale de celui ou ceux qui posent la question vient avec et sert de revêtement. Alors ce revêtement est souvent, simplement, une image – beaucoup de la vie est partie.
Et c’est la même chose, la même différence, quand je dis quelque chose et quand je vois (quand, par exemple, je regarde l’un des problèmes essentiels qui ne seront résolus que quand le monde changera). Quand je regarde comme ça dans le silence, ça a une puissance de vie et de vérité – qui s’évapore quand ça se met en mots. Il y a une diminution, un appauvrissement et, naturellement, une déformation. Quand on écrit ou qu’on dit, l’expérience se désintègre, c’est inévitable.
Il faudrait une nouvelle langue.
Il m’est arrivé, comme cela, d’avoir une vision (pas une vision avec des images, ce n’est pas cela: ça n’a ni forme ni son ni mots ni... c’est la chose elle-même. On vit la chose). Puis, après, quand on le dit à quelqu’un... Et c’est très sensible: cette impression de quelque chose que l’on tire pour le rendre visible, perceptible et communicable – la splendeur est partie.
Il nous faut de nouveaux organes d’expression... Ça viendra.
