This first volume is mostly what could be called the "psychological preparation" of Satprem. Mother's confidant had to be prepared, not only to understand the evolutionary meaning of Mother's discoveries, to follow the tenuous thread of man's great future unravelled through so many apparently disconcerting experiences - which certainly required a steady personal determination for more than 19 years! - but also, in a way, he had to share the battle against the many established forces that account for the present human mode of being and bear the onslaught of the New Force. Satprem - "True Love" - as Mother called him, was a reluctant disciple. Formed in the French Cartesian mold, a freedom fighter against the Nazis and in love with his freedom, he was always ready to run away, and always coming back, drawn by a love greater than his love for freedom. Slowly she conquered him, slowly he came to understand the poignant drama of this lone and indomitable woman, struggling in the midst of an all-too-human humanity in her attempt to open man's golden future. Week after week, privately, she confided to him her intimate experiences, the progress of her endeavour, the obstacles, the setbacks, as well as anecdotes of her life, her hopes, her conquests and laughter: she was able to be herself with him. He loved her and she trusted him. It is that simple.

Au sujet des prophéties de X., dont je t’ai parlé dans ma lettre hier, X. a dit quelque chose d’intraduisible, mais qui signifiait: Voyons les réactions de Mère, «Let us see Mother’s reactions» (car je lui ai dit que je t’avais tout écrit). Puis il m’a dit: «There are several other secret matters which I shall tell you» (Il y a plusieurs autres secrets dont je te parlerai.) Et il a ajouté en manière d’exemple: «I shall tell where the atomic bombs will be dropped» (Je te dirai où seront lancées les bombes atomiques.) Si donc ces choses t’intéressent, ou si tu vois ou sens quelque chose, il serait peut-être bon que tu manifestes ton intérêt dans une lettre que tu m’écrirais et que je traduirais à X. Spontanément, j’ai souligné à X. que cela faciliterait sans doute ton travail d’avoir des précisions. Mais il vaut mieux que ces choses viennent de toi, si tu le juges bon.
En ce qui me concerne, X. a dit: «Something will happen» (Quelque chose va arriver.)

Satprem, mon très cher enfant, j’ai reçu hier soir ta deuxième lettre datée du 4.
Pour mon mantra, hier avant de recevoir ta lettre, j’ai commencé à le répéter et j’ai senti que cela allait bien. Si donc X. n’y fait pas de correction, ce n’est pas nécessaire de me le renvoyer. La force que X. me donne, je la reçois sans le papier.
Je ne sais si c’est une illusion, mais j’ai eu à plusieurs reprises l’impression que si X. dit ce mantra, cela guérira sa fièvre.
Pour ce qui concerne les prophéties, je suis extrêmement intéressée. Dis-le à X. et aussi que des précisions de ce genre sont une grande aide dans mon travail, cela donne des points de repère physiques qui permettent une grande précision dans l’action. Il va de soi que je serai très reconnaissante de toutes les indications qu’il voudra bien me donner.
Pour toi, mon cher petit, en effet «something must happen and will happen». Veux-tu dire à X. de ma part que de tout mon pouvoir je participerai à ce qu’il veut entreprendre. Il comprendra.
Je suis avec toi et te répète: la Grâce est infinie et l’Amour est invincible; aie confiance et veux la victoire, c’est cela que X. appelle ta collaboration.
