A fire spread across the world that year, from Warsaw to Colombia, from Nanterre to Alexandria: "There are long periods when things are being prepared, and a moment comes when something happens; and this something is what will bring about a new development in the world. Like the moments when man appeared on earth; now it is another being." This is the second turning point of Mother's Yoga. She is 90. Auroville has just been founded: "A center for accelerated evolution." Martin Luther King is assassinated, and Robert Kennedy. Russia invades Czechoslovakia - what is going on? "I have the strong impression of an attempt to make us learn something like the secret of the functioning [of man, of the earth]. The method we have learned is constantly shown to be false, it doesn't conform to reality, and there is a will to make us find the true method, but through experience." As if the earth were shut in a bowl, prisoner of a "false matter": "There is a sort of web over the entire earth, and the body is being taught how to get out of it.... Little by little the consciousness of the cells is breaking that hold." And on the other side of the web all of a sudden: "Never in my whole life have I seen or felt anything so beautiful!.... The most marvellous hours ever possible on earth - why do people go looking up above for something which is right here!" The short-lived miracle of 1968 seems to be swallowed up, while the walls of our bowl are slowly but inexorably being shattered in every country, every continent and every branch of human knowledge. "A considerable amount of time would still seem necessary for everything to be ready to change. And yet, there is almost a promise that a sudden change is going to take place." Could it be that, one fine morning, one last pressure of circumstances will throw us headlong into a new consciousness?
Le premier avril va s'ouvrir la saison des sports et j'ai donné un message... approprié.
J'ai commencé par un paradoxe:
«The first condition for acquiring power is to be obedient.
«The body must learn to obey before it can manifest power; and physical education is the most thorough discipline for the body.
«So be eager and sincere in your effort for physical education and you will acquire a powerful body.»
C'est logique. C'est tout.1
Et maintenant, la traduction:
«Pour acquérir le pouvoir, la première condition est l’obéissance.
«Avant de manifester le pouvoir, le corps doit apprendre à obéir, et pour le corps, l’éducation physique est la discipline la plus complète.
«Soyez donc ardents et sincères dans votre effort d'éducation physique, et vous aurez un corps puissant.»

Tout le monde se querelle... Oh! des querelles absolument à propos de rien – tout le monde se met en colère, tout le monde se querelle. C'est depuis trois jours comme cela. Les astrologues disent que ça dépend de la «position des astres» – moi, je n'y crois pas! Je crois que la situation des astres est seulement... (comment dire?) la façon céleste de noter les événements terrestres (!) Ce n'est pas qu'ils conditionnent: ils sont l’expression.
*(Puis Mère entre dans une longue contemplation qui va durer presque tout le temps de l’entrevue. À un moment, elle ouvre les yeux, regarde le disciple comme s'il se passait quelque chose ou comme si elle allait dire quelque chose...)3

Mais j'allais justement te demander... Moi aussi, j'ai eu cette impression – pour toi. Quelque chose de nouveau. Non? Tu n'as pas eu une expérience nouvelle?

l’impression d'une force consciente très paisible, mais très forte, qui est installée en toi, qui est descendue, quelque chose de nouveau. Tu as senti?
Ça s'est traduit mentalement il y a quelques jours.
Ah!... (ton déçu) Quoi?
l’impression que toutes les réalisations là-haut et que tous les affreux enfers que l’on peut vivre – dans le Feu, c'est UN. Dans la Flamme, c'est UN. Tout cela, là-haut, se dissout; tout cela, en bas, se dissout; et puis dans la Flamme, c'est UN, il n'y a plus de contraires.
Pour moi, ça [ce que j'ai perçu en toi] s'est traduit comme cela, par une espèce d'équilibre très fort, très lumineux et... oh! d'une paix extraordinaire.
N'est-ce pas, quelque chose qui s'est établi (geste comme un carré solide). On pourrait traduire par le mot «réalisation».
Paisible, fort, lumineux – très solide.
