Bonne Année, Douce Mère.
This is the first week of the month.

(I show the Mother the calendar for the new year. She writes on the first page “1972” and draws a wavy line beneath it. Then about the 1971 calendar She says:)

But the other one was not yet finished.

Yes, Mother, we missed five months in that one.

(Then I tell Her about the painting for January:) It is a bit symbolic. These are the bad forces which are pressing down from all sides and then man opens towards the heights. The flowers are ‘Opening to Sri Aurobindo’s Force ⁷⁴.

(Mother writes beneath the painting:)

En cette année du centenaire de Sri Aurobindo,
efforҫons-nous d'être dignes de lui,
en suivant fidèlement son enseignement
pour préparer la venue du surhomme.
