The Ego-Mark

I do not know the nature of the soul
And have only been aware of its great force,
And yet I feel the Presence in each and all
Awakening in life's unerring course.

But then I see the ego mark in men
A thing to shudder at and truly fear
Ego and greed their standard acumen
And terror with hate to all who dare come near.
