We Were Not Allowed

9.12.2023

We were not allowed to visit His room,
On the fifth, the day He left,
There were so many who felt the gloom
The Managing Trustee left,
Using the possibility of rain,
All the disciples and devotees bereft
On a day that graced the Ashram with full sun.
I remember time and time again
The many years we walked in showers
Or deluges through uncounted hours
And still were permitted to look on Him,
Our Lord who understood our pain,
In overcoming the falsehood dim
Allowing us by Grace to climb
The carpeted stairs to see His face
Majestic, solemn, the paradigm
Of all He promised to our race.
