It seemed to me the loveliest of suns Whose rays could warm the loneliest of souls, A gift divine from the all-transcendent ones Who lead us up to the promised goals, Lifting man beyond the ignorance Into which he plunged so many lives ago To rise from inert matter and to glance At the Unknown whom yet he seems to know.
Since we are caught in matter's iron hold We must now find the way to our escape, And fearless scale forbidden peaks of old, No longer thoughtless creatures like the ape But conscious now, aware of God within, Our journey to the Light we must begin
