October 1998
For a moment body and soul Are one with the beating heart of earth ̶ Praise the yellow sunflowers And the wild fruits ripening.
Now the wondrous autumn light Steals across the silent lake Praise asters and the fading phlox And the energy of chrysanthemums.
Leaves imprint their brilliant hues Behind the eyes, in the soul's still space Praise camellias and the crocus of fall. And the bright pink stars of cyclamen.
