I stood alone before an iron hill And looked upon the very face of God Of earthly pain I have had my fill, But seeing him my little mind felt odd
For why should He be only a mountain top, If He is everywhere why not in me And then to thought there came a sudden stop, Where then is God and what is infinity?
Is there a time when time is not or space Can I see God in the finiteness of sand, In the forms or colours of a different race Or bid him come to me at my command?
No, I experience him in eternity And find him sweetly in and out of me.
