I look on ‘Unostentatious Certitude' Its purple blossoms gather in my heart; It is summer now and most have gone to sleep Except the hydrangeas and roses on the hill. The vibrant peonies are now at rest Though I have enjoyed the blueberries, Amazed at gladiolus still in bloom And the Japanese iris welcoming me Beside the fragrance of gardenias. Though much has changed the bullfrog calls to me! How can one sound the beauty of it all? So many daylilies beckoning still to me In this gentle move from summer into fall. And I within my soul embrace it all.
