Ever I shall remember when Ipray Abiding at Thy lotus feet one day We two might meet, for I would recognize The blue and luminous beauty of those eyes
Through which her spirit's gentle light had shown. What seed divine in us has slowly grown That even in our pain no deep despair Can swamp the soul with stultifying air.
Thy Presence lifts the spirit's wings to soar, The flame-touched heart to open and adore, Where once desire trampled on our prayers Now peace descends and Love in us prepares
The temple of the living Word's abode And lifts from us the heavy human load Of toil and tears that trouble the earthly scene, Builds in us a poise, a vast serene.
A burgeoning sense of beauty and joy replace The worthless fruits of an unconscious race By ego run to keep its hold intact, Its passion-play of suffering enact
Upon our bloodied earth, our tortured soil, The labour-camp where mind and body toil Unknowing for what end nor question why We darken with our ignorance God's sky.
He lives in the world's tenements of hate Our destiny is His, we are His fate, Continuing His evolution's plan To build the bridge from man to superman.
