Battered and broken, a crippled human blot And know that by the Grace of God go I And yet I know that within my soul I am not This lump of clay but all humanity.
The winds caress me and the sun is warm Yet in my shattered form I am one Who has suffered by many a violent evil harm And know that my human journey is far from done.
I came into this world a body whole But those who bore me mangled every bone Yet could not touch my strong eternal soul. Now He is with me though I am alone.
I find my peace among the simple things And in the silence my heart of freedom sings.
To a child horribly crippled by his parents so he could beg.
