In the evening in the moonlight When the sun has said farewell I speak Her name and in the white Silence I hear the evening bell
That calls the faithful to the prayer In rooms of sanctuary and peace, But I alone in a diviner air Rest and let the thought-mind cease.
In this sacred atmosphere Alone I invoke the Grace Beneficent and drawing near, Entering the sacred place
Behind the heart and through thin veils, A place supreme where Mother dwells And as the Presence never fails I forget the thorns of human hells
And I become more than the "I", A portion of divinity.
