Once again to those depths of darkness plunge The other being that I know so well And strive to overcome; yet he returns To taunt my soul with nightmare visions of hell.
0 great One who through ages we have called Descended here to lift the darkened veil, My soul implores delete from me the past. It is but for thee my spirit shall not fail.
Take from me the burden of the ''I" To live in thee, know thy compassion's peace And grant this soul the honour to live and serve, That all attraction for the night may cease.
