The physical mind repeats on and on Old memories, remembrances, old songs, And buried darknesses better left alone. To calm the mind, develop peace within Is no small task for our limited human strength, The waves of energies that swiftly come Unwanted in the province of the mind, Unneeded in the climbing soul's ascent Shall cease and in the busy hum of life We shall find peace that brings the state of bliss, The offering of self to One who knows The labour and the passion and the pain From this inconstant world through which we climb To stations far above the mental range That arrogantly fuels the ego's drive, This puppet who proclaims himself as king And feels his knowledge close to the sublime. The hour of God has dawned, will we accept To abrogate the treaty with our past And see, for once, unblinded by the light The great New World that blooms before our eyes In beauty that will take us by surprise As earth renews herself and in delight A newer world appears, veridical, Aligned to all who seek divinity.
