I see Thee standing in a place above My forehead and I know without these eyes That Thou art with me and Thy present love Is tangible and I towards Thee rise. But the past is burdensome and hard to scale The mountains of my ignorance to defeat. O for the wings to lift my soul and sail To that New World all aspirants to greet. I must disarm my being from its chains For what is left to learn of earthly charms When Thou has promised me celestial gains And comfort in Thy ever-loving arms. Release me lord from all the ties that bind For at Thy feet is the only joy I find.
