When I pull back upon the reins Of memories from long ago I leave behind all worldly pains And moving slowly then I go Into a realm of consciousness Where silence sweetly embraces me, The world and all its outwardness Is gone, I am alone and free. No more the denizens of grief Appear and I am whole again And feel at once a vast relief Free of hurry, free of pain. One day I know that I will live A servant of the Lord to give To all the bounty of love divine, My spirit's symbol and its sign.
