I remember as a child The warmth of human family, The gathered prayers, the sacred chants, Good people who seemed to live enclosed In a small world where God was king. They were not aware of insidious plans Of domination by the few. It was a world of gentle faith And that was all the masses knew, And then the two World Wars appeared!
