I have wandered lately through an empty hall And not a backward glance could I refuse The future loomed so far and I so small Burdened by the past I could not lose. I seemed to be in stasis, could not move Or lift this self towards undying love For Her by whom the world will turn divine; I knew that I was meant to seek the goal, The world of light and joy seemed destined mine Calling through the dimness to my soul. The hour beckons and the Force has grown, Its power every face of falsehood shown Yet counsels patience so a Mother's kiss Might waken all that is asleep in me. And when I pray I pray alone for this, That I may become what She has seen in me.
